The Visual Neuroscience group at the University of Oldenburg is offering the position of a
Research Assistant(TV-L E13 65%)
in the collaborative research centre SFB 1372 “Magnetoreception and navigation in vertebrates: from biophysics to brain and behaviour” starting as soon as possible. The position is funded until 31.12.2022.
The goal of our research is to understand how magnetosensory information is transmitted from the retina to the brain. We study populations of retinal ganglion cells using large-scale multi-electrode arrays, which are able to record the responses of many hundred neurons for several hours.
We seek highly motivated candidates with an academic university degree (Master or Diploma) in biology. Applicants should have strong computing skills and training in visual neuroscience. Experience in large scale multielectrode array recordings of the retina and in the hard- and software development of stimulation systems is a requirement. Experience in magnetoreception, bioelectromagnetism or related fields of research is beneficial.
SFB 1372 and the University of Oldenburg are aware of the power of diversity. In order to increase the percentage of female faculty and staff members, female candidates with equal qualification will be given preference. Applicants with disabilities will be preferentially considered in case of equal qualification.
